Zahir Lodge, Nosy Iranja, Madagascar - Robinson Crusoe Style
Live the life you dream of here on Nosy Iranja. Miles away from civilization on the edge of a friendly Malagasy fishing village in the middle of the Indian Ocean!
We simply love Zahir and Nosy Iranja. Often referred to as the most beautiful island in the Indian Ocean Nosy Iranja is one island at low tide but two at high tide. With a 750m stretch of the whitest sand joining the two islands at low tide you can wander over to Iranjakely (Little Iranja) but make sure you get back before the tide comes in!
The water on either side of the island is the bluest of blue, crystal clear and alive with turtles. Dolphins often pass by, the snorkelling to the north and the south is magnificent.
Zahir offers full board lodging on the beach with all meals taken under shade on the sand. The stars at night are unimaginable.
Whilst completely private from the village you will see the occasional fisherman departing for his day’s work, a few ducks, a zebu cleaning the beach, happy children and brightly dressed women.
Take a walk up to the lighthouse (built by Gustav Eiffel of tower fame), through the village or, in season, visit a turtle hatchery.
You will not regret two or three nights here, combine with another lodge or a six night yacht charter.
