Transfer from Nosy Be airport by taxi and boat to one of the hotels below and unwind after your journey.
Overnight (all nights) at Amarina, L'Heure Bleue, Sakatia Lodge, Sakatia Towers or Belle Plage Hotels
Spend the day on the beach and perhaps take a walk through the local village to get a feel for the area.
Our guide and driver will collect you from the hotel and take you for a day's exploration of the island of Nosy Be. This trip will include the Ylang Ylang Distillery, the old Slave Market, Bemazava and the Sacred Tree, the Cascades, Mont Passot (the highest point), the Indian Village and Hellville itself.
Return to your hotel for the night.
Your driver and guide will be waiting for you after breakfast to drive you to the southern part of the island. Here you will board a pirogue (dug out) and travel to the Lokobe Rainforest Reserve. Spend the morning exploring with a guide looking for Leaf Tailed Geckos, lemurs and the VERY rare green plated lizard. (see photos alongside) At lunch you will return to the beach for a traditional Malagasy meal with prawns, crab, lobster (seasonal), grilled fish, zebu (oxen) and rice. Feeling tired and satisfied enjoy your pirogue trip back to Nosy Be and transfer to your hotel.
Transfer to Hellville Harbour and catch a speed boat to Nosy Komba. The village Ampangorina is the largest on the island and home to a bustling trade in tablecloths and other great local crafts. A short walk up the hill will take you to the lemurs. These are Black Lemurs although the female is a rusty colour. They have grown used to humans and are protected by the locals. It is for this reason that the tourist comes to Komba - tempt them out of the trees and onto your shoulder with a banana and the sought after "lemur on my shoulder" photograph. A bit further along you will be introduced to a few boa's, chameleons, tortoises and, hopefully the new museum, which they were building when I last visited.
After a bit of retail therapy at the markets return to your boat and head off to Nosy Tanikely. This is a marine reserve par excellence and the snorkelling here ranks with the best in the world. Enjoy the water and swim with the turtles whilst your guides prepare your lunch on the beach. After lunch take a walk up to the lighthouse, past the resident wild lemurs or walk around the island itself.
All in all - a wonderful day. Return, by boat, to Nosy Be and transfer to your hotel.
Time for a bit of "at leisure"; walk on the beach, swim, perhaps explore Hellville, and at some stage you must have a drink or even lunch at Nandipo Cyber Pub. Eccentric and unique and a meeting place for locals. A real taste of Hellville!
It's all over now. You could link this trip with a tour of the north to make a two week holiday or even a six night charter on one of our yachts. Either way - you will leave this "Perfumed Island" with a yearning to return.
