It has taken me too many years to visit this unspoilt part of Madagascar. It was as I expected and more - the rainforest truly meets the ocean here; it is hot and humid but it is rainforest. Primary Rain Forest at that. With around 4500 mm of rain per annum you can expect a lot of it. But this is what it is all about. The beaches are pristine and dotted with pitch black rocks. There is some snorkelling here but it is not really what you are visiting for.
The rooms are comfortable and airy. the food was great and I found it amazing how they manage when the nearest shop is over 3 hours away by boat! The staff were all, as usual in Madagascar, well trained and friendly and Felix (Malagasy) the chief guide is a partner in the business. For the nature lover this would be my first choice of places to visit in Madagascar - combined with two nights camping at Nosy Mangabe.
Oct 2010.
