FAHTIMA & CRAIG BALLANCE, HONEYMOON - JUNE 2016

Words can not describe what a fantastic honeymoon we had in Madagascar! From the moment we left Johannesburg to when we arrived back, everything was perfect and ran like clockwork. We spent our first week on Yacht Gecko, followed by 4 nights on Tsarabanjina and then the last 4 nights at L'Heure Bleu.

Yacht Gecko - this was the favourite part of our holiday. We travelled north to the Mitsios Islands and spent our days relaxing on the catamaran, fishing, snorkeling, visiting secluded white sandy beaches and enjoying the serenity and pure beauty of Madagascar and finishing up with a trip to Nosy Komba to feed the cute lemurs. Several "pinch-me" moments come to mind... from having dolphins chase our boat, to my husband catching his first sailfish (his dream come true!), to lying on the front deck star-gazing the Madagascan skies, to snorkeling with sea turtles, and eating Alex's amazing food... WOW. Every kilo I put on was worth it! Albert, Maurice and Alex are fantastic and the trip wouldn't have been the same without them. Always helpful, always up for a laugh, and give you privacy despite being on a small boat. All in all a fantastic week! We can't wait to be back!

Constance Tsarabanjina - this is a gem of a place. Incredibly beautiful private island in the Mitsio archipelago. We were met by a warm welcome of waving staff on the beach and it was instant luxury and relaxation. The pure white sand, the crystal clear water and the beautiful beach villas with what has to be the most amazing view I've ever woken up to! We were spoilt rotten being on our honeymoon and were treated to massages and a private candlelit dinner on the beach which was so romantic. We could be as active as we wanted with snorkeling, kayaking and walking or just lie on the beach with a drink in hand. Either way, we enjoyed every minute of it. And the staff were excellent - so friendly and attentive. It is pricey but worth every penny.

L'Heure Bleu - when it was time to go back to Nosy Be, we stayed at this lovely hotel located at the end of Madirokely Beach, a bit away from the touristy hustle and bustle. We booked one of the more basic rooms which was perfectly fine - a bit dark inside but still comfortable and had a lovely private deck to watch the world go by with the cutest little green geckos by your side! Service was great - very friendly staff and manager, always making an effort to help us feel welcome and plan our days. Our favorite day trip was to Lokobe Nature Reserve travelling by way of pirogue and walking through the forest seeing beautiful lemurs, chameleons (including the smallest in the world, 2cm!), snakes and all sorts of other fascinating flora and fauna. Fantastic. We enjoyed our holiday until the very end.

The whole holiday was nothing but magical and we wouldn't have changed a single thing. We can attribute a lot of this to Shamel Cunningham whose customer service was superb through the whole process right from the very first contact we made with her. Having never been to Madagascar before, we presumed things would be a bit slower and disorganised, but every transfer was on time, every hotel knew where we were coming from and going to, we even got a call from Shamel while sitting on Gecko checking in on us to make sure we were happy! First class. Thank you Shamel for organising the best holiday of our lives!

As for Madagascar - we have fallen in love with you and can't wait to be back! What a beautiful country.
